- 30 hours classroom instruction, and
- Six hours behind-the-wheel instruction
Classroom instruction is live, teacher-led instruction and is available in the following formats:

Students do not have to hold a Maryland Learner’s Permit to enroll in the classroom instruction portion of the program. Minimum age to register for the classroom portion of driver’s education program is 15 years of age.
IMPORTANT CLASSROOM INFORMATION
- Classroom Unit #1 Attendance is MANDATORY – if Unit #1 is missed, the student will be removed from the class session and will have to move to a different class session.
- Students who miss more than 12 hours of classroom instruction will be required to re-start classroom instruction from the beginning.
- Students must score 80% or higher on the final exam to pass the classroom portion of the program. Students are provided with 2 additional attempts to pass the final exam. If the final exam is failed for the third time, the student will be required to repeat the classroom instruction.
DRIVER'S EDUCATION PROGRAM VIRTUAL CLASSROOM POLICY
The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) has set very strict regulations for virtual classrooms.
- Virtual Classes are conducted under the same standards of management and conduct as in-person classes. Therefore, students should be in a distraction-free environment.
- Virtual class must be led by an instructor in real time.
- Students must use first and last names for screen names so that the instructor may identify the student by name. No nicknames should be used.
- Student computers must have cameras to allow the instructor to visually confirm the student's participation and monitor behavior.
- Students must be in a well-lit room and visible in the camera.
- Students' faces must be visible on camera during all instructional time.
- Students must be seated at an appropriate desk, table, or other writting surface. Students may not be lying in bed, moving around, or engaged in any other activity that would distract from instruction or be deemed inappropriate as classroom behavior.
Students not adhering to the above MVA regulations will be removed from the class and will have to make up any missed instructional time.
STUDENTS MUST HAVE A VALID MARYLAND LEARNER’S PERMIT TO COMPLETE THE BEHIND THE WHEEL PORTION OF THE DRIVER’S EDUCATION PROGRAM.
The Behind the Wheel instruction is completed in three 2-hour behind the wheel sessions completed in one of our instructor vehicles.
- Students must have the physical learner’s permit with them at every behind the wheel appointment.
- If students have a Restriction Code on their learner’s permit requiring specific equipment (i.e. corrective lenses), the student must have the equipment with them at every behind the wheel appointment.
- 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a behind the wheel appointment. Less than 24 hours’ notice will result in a late cancellation fee being added to the student account balance.
- Failure to show up for a scheduled behind the wheel appointment OR showing up without the physical learner’s permit or required equipment, may result in a NO SHOW fee being added to the student account balance.
